Exhibition Audience by Pavel Tatarnikov
The exhibition will present over 70 original works of the artist: portraits of historical personalities, artistic and historical reconstructions of Belarusian towns and castles panoramas, series of illustrations to a Belarusian fairy tale collection A Golden Strand of Wool, Silver Spider’s Web, series of illustrations to a Chinese fairy tale A Shooter and Ten Suns.
Pavel Tatarnikov was born in 1971 in Brest, to a family of artists. Finished an art school. Has created over 70 images of historical personalities of Belarus, made wooden reconstructions of old Belarusian towns and illustrations to the remarkable book of recent years Fatherland (by U. Arlou). Pavel has been awarded the Grand prize at the National contest The Art of Books, and the State award of Belarus. He is the only Belarusian who has been awarded the Golden Apple of the Biennial of Illustration Bratislava (the most important world event for the children’s book illustrators). His pencil brought to life Shakespeare and Stevenson, Dumas and Andersen, Chinese epos and The Tale of Igor’s Campaign, Belarusian fairy tales and legends.
That’s what the author says about himself: “Since childhood I have loved reading and drawing. Older painters, please, forgive me, I sometimes drew in books. Just added the details that I considered were missing in the illustration. Luckily, my parents didn’t stop me from doing that. I think that was the beginning of my way to becoming a graphic artist”.
